TOLEDO, Ohio — A northwest Ohio sinkhole has swallowed a car traveling down a street and briefly trapped the driver, who climbed out after authorities gave her a ladder.
Toledo police Sgt. Joe Heffernan says a water main break beneath the road may have caused the sinkhole Wednesday. The hole is estimated to be at least 10 feet deep.
Police say driver Pamela Knox didn't appear hurt but was shaken up and was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
Heffernan says Knox saw the vehicle in front of her start to slip into the hole but drive beyond it. He says Knox couldn't avoid it.
Officials used a crane to pull the car from the hole. Repairs to the road are expected to take days.
Four Held Over Fire Baby Ritual
Police in Chile have arrested four people accused of burning a baby alive in a ritual because the leader of the sect believed the end of the world was near and the child was the antichrist.
The three-day-old baby was taken to a hill in the town of Colliguay, near the port of Valparaiso, on November 21 and was thrown into a bonfire.
The baby's mother, 25-year-old Natalia Guerra, allegedly approved the sacrifice and was among those arrested.
Miguel Ampuero, of the Police Investigative Unit, Chile's equivalent of the FBI, said: "The baby was naked. They strapped tape around her mouth to keep her from screaming. Then they placed her on a board. After calling on the spirits they threw her on the bonfire alive."
Authorities said the 12-member sect was formed in 2005 and was led by Ramon Gustavo Castillo Gaete, 36, who remains at large.
Police said Castillo Gaete was last seen travelling to Peru to buy ayahuasca, a hallucinogenic brew plant he used to control members of the sect.
"Everyone in this sect was a professional," Mr Ampuero said. "We have someone who was a veterinarian and one who worked as a flight attendant, we have a film-maker, a draughtsman. Everyone has a university degree."

Lion Mauls Woman to Death During Sex
Residents of a resort town in Zimbabwe are on alert after a rogue
lion mauled to death two people. Reports suggest that the man and his girlfriend, identified as Sharai Mawera, were having sex in a bushy area in Kariba when the lion attacked."Unfortunately the woman, who was also known as Mai Desire, was mauled to death by the lion but her boyfriend managed to escape naked and he was only wearing a condom," a source told myzimbabwe.com.
It says the man managed to escape and ran off while the woman was mauled to death.
Many motorists ignored the man, MyZimbabwe reported, because he was running all over the road naked. An arm and the remains of a second corpse, believed to be an as-yet-unidentified man, were found by rangers hunting for the lions. The National Parks and Wildlife Authority said fliers are being handed out in the town and warned people against walking at night and using footpaths through the bush as shortcuts.
Volunteers are using a loudspeaker to caution townspeople on the dangers of lion attacks on the shores of Lake Kariba, a man-made hydroelectric dam popular for fishing and tourism.

Man Dies After Eating 28 Raw Eggs In One Go For A Bet
A man tried to eat 30 raw eggs for a bet – but collapsed with severe stomach pains and died. Dhaou Fatnassi, 20, scoffed 28 before he began feeling violently ill. He was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The exact cause of death has not yet been established.
A hospital source said: “Doctors were called in after the young man felt strong stomach pains, but he died on the way to the A&E.” Mr Fatnassi made the wager with friends in Kairouan, north east Tunisia, for an undisclosed sum of money.
Raw eggs may contain dangerous salmonella bacteria and the only way to avoid potential food poisoning is to cook them properly. Fitness fans are known to add raw eggs to drinks for added protein. However, pregnant women should avoid them as they are more susceptible to food bugs.
The tragedy comes two months after Edward Archbold, 32, died following a cockroach eating contest in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
A postmortem revealed he choked to death due to his airway being blocked by cockroach body parts.
* A man of 26 was rushed to hospital in Wuhan, China, after eating a chili hotpot which was so spicy it opened a hole in his stomach and left him vomiting blood.

Burglar Gets Stuck in Air Vent
ROTTERDAM (WABC) -- Things didn't go quite as planned for a burglar who tried to pull off a pizza shop heist.
An alarm sounded at Paesan's Pizza on Guilderland Avenue in Rotterdam in Schenectady County around 1:00 Friday morning.
When police arrived, they heard screams for help, which sounded like they were coming from the roof. The fire department headed to the scene with a ladder. Investigating officers found Timothy J. Cipriani, 46, lodged inside a metal rooftop ventilation shaft pleading for help.
Inside the pizza shop, officers found his leg sticking out the shaft opening directly above the deep fryers in the kitchen area.
Cipriani told officers he was attempting to burglarize the pizza shop when he got stuck and now just wanted the police to help him out. Firefighters had to cut him out of the ventilation system.
Cipriani was taken into custody and immediately treated by medical personnel on scene. Cipriani was released on parole back in January.
He's headed back to jail on burglary and related charges
Call for New Taser Guidelines After Blind Stroke Victim Colin Farmer Hit
Amnesty International has called for new guidelines on when Tasers should be deployed to be issued after blind stroke victim Colin Farmer was struck by the 50,000-volt device when police mistook his white stick for a samurai sword.
Lancashire constabulary has said it is 'extremely sorry' for putting the 61-year-old through a 'traumatic experience' in last Friday evening's incident.
Mr Farmer, who used to run an architecture practice and has suffered two strokes, said he was left 'terrified' after a 'thug dressed as a policeman' Tasered him in the back, pushed him to the ground and handcuffed him.
He said a 'good cop' policeman arrived after around five minutes and ordered his colleague to remove the cuffs before taking Mr Farmer to hospital.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission will investigate the incident after Mr Farmer complained and the force referred itself to the watchdog.
Amnesty International UK said the 'disturbing' incident illustrated why Tasers should only be used in the 'strictest set of circumstances'.
'It also shows that officers must undergo intensive, rigorous training which takes into account how to respond to people in vulnerable groups, including the visually impaired,' the human rights group's arms programme director Oliver Sprague sad.
'Essential precautions must be taken before the Taser is used. For example, a blind man is unlikely to be able to be aware of all the steps that ought to be taken before the Taser is used. For example the visual warnings like the drawing of the weapon and the red-dot deterrent, would not have been likely to have been effective.'
Mr Sprague added: 'There must be strict Home Office guidelines outlining exactly when and in what circumstances Tasers are used. Without these, Amnesty remains concerned that police officers are more likely to use the Taser – in circumstances where it is not needed.'
Police said they had received reports of a man with a samurai sword in Chorley town centre on Friday. A 27-year-old man was later arrested but subsequently released after no sword was found.

Chotu Kumar, Poverty Stricken Boy, 6, Seen Suckling From Stray Indian Dog
A poverty-stricken six-year-old boy has been filmed feeding on milk from the teat of a stray dog in India. Footage shows Chotu Kumar grabbing at the bitch’s hind legs so he can get a drink. Astonishingly, the animal allows him to.
“Our family is very poor, sometimes I get hungry,” he said.
“The dog doesn’t bite me. I like her and she likes me, she treats me like one of her puppies. I love to play with the dogs, they’re my friends.”
Chotu lives with his mother Shanichari Devi, 37, his grandmother Amiya Devi, 60, and his two brothers Bola, 14, and three-year-old Mahesh in a mud house in Jharkhand, Eastern India.
After his father’s death four years ago the family dropped below the poverty line.
The elder brother was forced to go out to work to earn money for the family but he only brings home under £20 a month (1200 INR) working at a nearby hotel.
Chotu’s mother and grandmother go out to the forest and collect firewood and try to find forest food. But on average their daily meals consist of vegetables and roti, a homemade Indian bread
Meanwhile, two years ago Chotu started spending all of his time with a pack of dogs. He didn’t go to school so he didn’t have any friends. The dogs had become his friends.
The family hadn’t eaten solid foods or milk for days.
And one morning Shanichari spotted her son sitting on the floor drinking milk from the dog’s teat.
She said: "While he was playing with the dogs outside the house I saw him drinking the bitch's milk. I was so shocked. I ran over and pulled him away. But ever since whenever he is hungry he has always slipped back. I have let him because I know how hungry he is.
"The dog has always been friendly with him and never attacks him. He often rides on her back and then he jumps off and sucks on her teat along with her pups. The bitch licks him while he feeds just like she does with her own pups."
There were times when the dog sits outside his mud house and barks for him to come out to play.
But when local villagers found out about Chotu and his new friends they began to get angry. They were worried other children were at risk and that there would be a rabies outbreak.
"Villagers kept telling us he’d die of some disease if he carried on drinking it and it’d spread to the other children. But Chotu carried on," Shanichari added.
Eventually villagers reported Chotu to local officials and they stepped in. Chotu was admitted to school where he gets a free lunch and the authorities gave his family a food card, which allowed them to get food aid.
But still, the dog continues to visit Chotu and it has become a habit for him to drink her milk.
Chotu said: "I suck her milk three times a day and it tastes sweet like sugar.
"Many people in the village don't like my friendship with the dogs but I am happy, if she isn’t near my home I go looking for her outside the village. She’s always happy to see me and lets me have some milk."
The spectacle of Chotu feeding from the dog is reminiscent of the legend of Romulus and Remus, the twin brothers who were abandoned by their parents and placed in the river Tiber.
The basket reached the shore and the twins were discovered and suckled by a female wolf, who nursed the boys until they were taken in by a shepherd.
